Our Mission:
To support Harlem’s community gardeners in our
campaign to preserve and increase green space in Harlem. To establish
and maintain productive, consistent relationships with our communities,
other gardeners, public officials and media related to green and
open space issues.
We believe that community gardens and green spaces
are an essential component of community life, producing measurable
social, health and economic benefits.

Community gardens are a resource that improve city
life by filtering air pollutants, fighting hunger, reducing
crime, promoting and enhancing education and fostering social justice
by breaking down racial and ethnic barriers.
Community gardeners as “community developers”
are working to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
Our Activities Include
- Monthly organizing meetings focusing on helping
Harlem's gardeners preserve and improve their community gardens
- Our annual garden party, including 2003's citation
from the Manhattan Borough President, Virginia Field's office
declaring June 14th 'Community Garden Day in Harlem
